This internship is geared towards students that will be entering their P3 year in the fall of 2023 and will provide a mix of clinical and operational experiences. This opportunity at VUMC provides the students to gain a valuable experience in a large academic health system and the ability to network with other students and pharmacists from across the country. We have an exceptional team of pharmacists at VUMC who work with the students to understand their interests and attempt to tailor their clinical experiences and projects to meet any interests they might have. Below are some of the experiences students can expect to gain during this internship:
- Shadowing experiences with our clinical pharmacists
- Performing medication reconciliations
- Assisting in preparation, dispensing and distribution of medications
- Gain an understanding of inpatient pharmacy operations
- Project opportunities
- Lead and participate in professional development topic discussions
Finally, this is a paid internship, and our expectation is for students to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday & a couple weekends) for at least 8 weeks over the summer months with a start and end date varying depending on the requirements of their school. We currently do not have a free housing option but do have information relating to housing in Nashville and at Vanderbilt.
