NEW PGY1 pharmacy residency program at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital accepting it’s first class of residents to start July 2024.
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is a 323 bed facility located in the heart of the horse capital of the world. HCA Florida Ocala is affiliated with HCA Florida West Marion Hospital which is a 222- bed hospital in West Marion County.
The PGY1 pharmacy residency at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is in pre-candidate status by ASHP and is a 12-month program where residents will have the opportunity to learn all aspects and responsibilities required of a clinical hospital pharmacist. The program will have an intensive focus on pharmacotherapy to develop the skills necessary for providing excellent patient care within the pharmacy profession at both of our facilities. The resident will focus on evidence-based medicine and participation in the healthcare team to design and manage drug treatment regimens for our patients. Opportunities for the resident will include research projects, medication use evaluations, conference attendance, committee involvement, precepting students, and more to create a well-rounded clinical pharmacist by the end of the PGY1 year. The resident will be exposed to our Level II Trauma Center as well as the region’s only comprehensive stroke center.
