Position Title: PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident
Location of the Position: Apopka, FL
Description: AdventHealth Apopka is a 158-bed acute care hospital that opened in early 2018 and continues to grow with our developing community. Current services include emergency, critical care, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, pulmonology, ambulatory oncology infusion center, sports medicine, and general surgery.
Our Mission: At AdventHealth Apopka, our mission is to extend the healing ministry of Christ to our community by providing the most advanced care in the area within a compassionate, caring environment that puts our patients and families first. The PGY-1 pharmacy residency program was established in 2020. Our inaugural class graduated in June 2021.
Residency Purpose: PGY-1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY-1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY-2) residencies.
Service Commitment: Residents will staff two shifts every 3rd weekend (alternating between clinical and operational responsibilities) and one weeknight shift every week plus one major holiday in accordance with the ASHP Duty Hours Requirements for Pharmacy Residencies.

Position Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Florida licensure by October 1
Required Application Material: All application materials must be submitted via PhORCAS by January 3.

- Letter of Intent discussing the motivation for pursuing a pharmacy residency
- Curriculum Vitae
- Current photograph
- Transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended
- 3 References using standard form in PhORCAS
- Include variety of recommendation writers (i.e. preceptors, faculty, work supervisors)
