POSITION DESCRIPTION: Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida (FHCSWF) is looking for a PIC dedicated to quality patient care and willing serve to the patients and customers of our Downtown Fort Myers 340B Outpatient Pharmacy. FHCSWF is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a mission of providing high quality healthcare services accessible to all people. We have 4 in-house 340B pharmacies that serve patients of our adult medical, pediatric, women’s health, geriatric care, optometry, dental, and podiatric providers. Pharmacists can access EHR data of patients for which they are filling prescriptions, giving them visibility to patient vitals, labs, medical and prescription histories, etc. Pharmacies are open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and are closed daily from 12:30-1:30 PM for lunch. Pharmacies are not open on weekends and are closed for most major holidays with company pay. No on-call. Health, Vision, Dental, and multiple other benefits offered, including CE and pharmacist license renewal reimbursement. Other than our Suboxone program, controlled substances are not dispensed on the premises. All pharmacies have at least 2 technicians employed full time that work 40 hours per week each. The PIC is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and overseeing daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Additionally, the PIC will assist the CPO in assuring that all pharmacy operations and activities comply with FHCSWF Policies and Procedures and all Federal and State of Florida laws and regulations.
DETAILED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Functional supervision of day-to-day pharmacy operations, pharmacy technicians, assistants, and interns.
- Monitor and verify patient medication regimens.
- Review prescriptions for final verification and prepares medications for dispensing.
- Effectively utilize EHR and pharmacy software for data entry, documentation, patient charts, and inventory.
- Counsel pharmacy patients on medication drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Communicate directly with prescribers and support staff through EHR regarding patient’s plan of care.
- Utilize Prescriber-Pharmacist protocol to implement cost savings and therapeutic substitutions when needed.
- Work in teams with other medical providers providing consultation for specific disease states.
- Willingness to precept students and work with and/or mentor pharmacy residents.
- Maintain established procedures of quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and HIPPA.
- Participate in the recording, maintenance, and production of all required daily and monthly logs and reports.
- Conduct monthly Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) meetings with pharmacy team per Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Monitor and manage monthly inventory reports and outdated pharmaceuticals and remove outdated pharmaceuticals from inventory monthly.
- Perform annual inventory count for third party inspection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Complete knowledge and understanding of profession and healthcare principles.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with patients and coworkers.
- Ability to conduct oneself professionally.
- Operational knowledge of pharmacologic system software (current, McKesson, but any software background is acceptable).
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Pharmacy, Pharm D. preferred
- 1 year internship
- At least 1 year experience preferred
- Maintain professional licensure through continuing education
- Completion of ASHP Accredited Community Based Pharmacy Residency Program a plus
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bilingual skills English/Spanish preferred
- State of Florida board of Pharmacy Registration
