PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency – HCA Florida North Florida Hospital

The new PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital (NFH) is now recruiting in Gainesville, Florida. The Department of Outpatient Pharmacy is searching for a highly motivated, professional pharmacy candidate to fill the pharmacy resident position for the 2026-2027 residency cycle.

The PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency at NFH is designed to provide residents with broad experiences to develop the clinical and interpersonal skills necessary to excel independently in practice. Residents function as key members of the healthcare team in various outpatient and inpatient settings, such as hospital-based outpatient pharmacy, transition of care at hospital admission and discharge, and geriatric primary care clinics. The intensive training involves residents participating in the following activities:

  • Prescription filling, patient counseling, and immunizations
  • Test and treat, diabetes education, and meds to beds
  • Medication reconciliation at hospital admission and discharge counseling
  • Designing, recommending, and managing drug treatment regimens for older adult patients
  • Completion of the teaching certificate program at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy
  • Precepting APPE students and pharmacy interns
